What is Christian Education?

Just what is a Christian School? Or more precisely, what is Central Christian Academy?

The education of American children began right here in New England.  As the Puritans set out to train their children, they used the Bible as their textbook, the pastor as the teacher, and the church as the schoolhouse.  As other textbooks were written, the Bible was the standard by which reading, writing, and arithmetic were taught.  The New England Primer included Bible references for each phonetic sound and letter such as:  for "a," In Adam's fall, We sinned all, and for "z," Zaccheus he, Did climb a tree, His Lord to see.

In the 1960's, our United States Supreme Court ruled against allowing the Bible or prayer in our public schools.  These decisions have had disastrous affects on the education of our children and on the condition of our society.  It is obvious that we must get back to the values and goals of education that is Christian.

The pastor and members of Central Christian Academy believe that every child deserves a Christian education and that it is the church's responsibility to provide this opportunity to Christian families.  Central Christian Academy was started in 1982 for that purpose.  In order to accomplish this goal, we ensure that every subject is taught with the Bible as the foundation and the Christian life as the practical application of each truth.

At the Central Christian Academy we promise that your children will receive an education where Bible truths are upheld and academic excellence is the norm. We guarantee three things:

  • The textbooks and materials will be Bible-based and educationally sound.
  • The teachers will be qualified and dedicated to the training of students and meeting individual needs.
  • Teachers are chosen not only for their educational qualifications, but also for their Christian testimony and deportment.
  • The goal of every part of the academy will be to prepare students to be exactly what God has created them to be.

While the kindergarten children learn to read and write, the elementary students are grasping language, arithmetic, science, and history facts.  In junior and senior high school, the students study grammar, history, biology and chemistry, algebra and geometry, and various other subjects.  Students graduate with the knowledge and training that prepares them for life.

A sports program that includes basketball, volleyball, and soccer allows the students to compete with other Christian schools throughout the state and region.  Choir and band programs train the students in music and encourage them to excel in fine arts competition each year.  An up-to-date computer laboratory provides ample opportunity for the students to learn applications and skills.

Most of our graduates go on to college for further study.  Some have become pastors, youth directors, music directors, nurses, and attorneys.  Our goal remains the same: that each young person is prepared to be exactly what God has created him to be.  It is exciting to see a child become an adult, confidently and consistently doing the will of God.

Please allow us to help you prepare your children for the future.
